Children's Day Celebration

I think all of us enjoyed ourselves today, didn't we? =)
You were all so excited that you were making so much noise so early in the morning. All of you just couldn't wait for the party to start! There were food, gifts, concert, magic show and even popping of "champagne". Did you all know you were actually drinking sparking apple juice? I thought the popping of the "champagne" was a magnificent ending to our party. I could see all of you enjoying the magic show too... with Rabbit who kept wanting people to smell his smelly feet and Cant Talk who just wouldn't cooperate.

Here are some memorable moments from our celebrations.

What a sumptuous spread!

Hmm... what should I take?

PARTY TIME!

Science Project

Remember the "Maha Bodhi" bean?

It was named Maha Bodhi because our school's name is printed on it, not because it's a real bodhi bean. Anyway, it was actually a Jack bean! Here are some pictures of how its plant look like.

Can you see that precious pod? It's the only one. The stem is rather weak too.

The gigantic pod!

LEAP Camp 2008

We had 2 days of LEAP Camp this week. Here are some photos that I've taken. Some photos are not very clear as I've taken them using my handphone.

I was quite amazed that all of you could learn the Kompang and Silat within 2 days! Impressive!

Beijing Olympic Buildings

I guess by now you would know which are the 2 most prominent and well-known buildings in the Beijing Olympic Games. That would be the Beijing Olympic Stadium also known as the "Bird's Nest" as well as the "Water Cube" which house the National Swim Centre.

I'm awed by both structures. The design that goes into the Bird's Nest. I wonder if the engineers went crossed eyes with all those beams and columns that weave in and out in all sorts of directions. Also, the Water Cube being able to change colours. Do you know that the changing lights are actually LED lights?

Here are 2 videos to share. One shows the changing lights of the Water Cube and the other shows the day of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. I really wished I was there to see these 2 magnificent buildings!

Olympic Fever

Judging from the chatbox, I think many of us are suffering from the "Olympic Fever". The opening ceremony was still very fresh in my mind, even until now. It was really spectacular and I was amazed at the number of people that were involved. I wished I was there myself to admire the fireworks. With that amount of fireworks, I think it can light up the whole Singapore night sky.

It was just a day after that that we had our national parade. Yes, I'm sure many of us think that it was not as exciting as the Olympic opening ceremony but the Olympics in China took 7+ years to prepare while ours only took less than a year. So, we should be proud of ourselves too! =)

I love watching the diving, swimming, volleyball and gymnastics.

So, besides preparing for your CA2, can relax by watching some of your favourite sports in the Olympic games! =)

National Day Celebrations (part 2)

I hope all of you had fun during our National Day celebrations. It sure was fun cheering for Bing Hong for the BYD competition. Again I must say it's a class effort, with a few contributing props while the rest chip in by cheering =)

Here are some photos to bring back the good memories. I may not have captured everyone of you since some of you were involved in performances, especially the scouts and choir members.

Back in School

I'm glad to be back in school after 4 days of attending conference at NIE-NTU.

Well, I'm pleasantly surprised that Soon Wei has gotten into the finals of the Dress-Up Competition! Your efforts, put in by everyone in class, whether to dress our Tin Tin up, help him with his lines, style his hair or provide some of the props, were really amazing. What I'm really glad about is that you all managed to pull this off without me! I'm really REALLY heartened. Hopefully, we'll show our support and spirit as a whole class again next Wed when Soon Wei goes for the finals! I'm sure you are going to do great! =)

PS: I will get to snap some photos this time round! =)

Video of a caterpillar eating

Well, we could hardly believe how a small caterpillar could eat so many leaves. We did see the lime leaves "disappearing", didn't we? However, we hardly saw the caterpillar actually eating. So, here's a video that captures a caterpillar eating. =)

Recommend a book

Hey 4 Integrity,

It's almost half-way through our holiday. I'm sure you've done lots of reading! Why don't you click the "comments" below and recommend a book that you have read to your classmates. You can tell us:

1) a little about the storyline (of course, not the whole story so that we could be kept in suspense and want to read the book ourselves).

2) why you liked the book.

Life Cycle of Butterfly

The long awaited photographs of the different stages of growth of the butterfly.
Here we go!

Remember me? The adorable caterpillar? I'm really hungry. I eat far too much but I have no choice. If I don't eat now, I don't have a chance to eat when I'm a pupa.

I'm preparing to wove myself into a cocoon so that I can transform into a beautiful butterfly!

See! I'm all wrapped up in my pupa stage. I'm going to take a really long nap!

I wonder why the humans are all so fascinated with me. They kept looking at me while I was sleeping!

Look how I turn out!! I'm such a pretty butterfly now! Don't you think I'm pretty? Do you notice the empty cocoon under my feet? I've been sleeping in there for far too long.

Isn't this caterpillar just adorable?

The Mealworm Story

Finally, most of our mealworms have gone through the different stages of growth and grown into mealworm beetles. Here's some pictures to share.

This mealworm(larva) is growing quite fat! Hmmm... it should start to moult soon.

Doesn't the pupa look like an alien!? Notice the 6 legs on the underside?

Here is our young mealworm beetle. Its colour will turn darker as it gets older.
